“The Brussels politicians and non-governmental organisations are attacking Hungary with regard to several issues linked to migration”, Chief Security Advisor to the Prime Minister, György Bankondi said on M1 Hungarian television.

According to Mr. Bakondi, these include for instance the procedures relating to transit zones, the existence of the border security fence, preventing the entry of illegal immigrants, and the mandatory resettlement quota.

“Hungary is acting in solidarity with people in need and with those who are defending and protecting European values and European citizens”, he stressed.

“These attacks have prompted the Government to not only defend its standpoint in debates and legal proceedings, but to also ask the opinion of the people, a standard form of which is the National Consultation”, Mr. Bakondi said, pointing out that some 900 thousand people have already returned their National Consultation questionnaires or voiced their opinion via the internet.
