Hungary offers its solidarity to countries which defend themselves against migration and thereby protect the whole of Europe, and has a long-standing tradition of providing assistance with border guarding responsibilities in the countries concerned, György Bakondi, Chief Security Advisor to the Prime Minister said on the Sunday evening programme of the public service television news channel M1.
Another important task, he said, is for remoter countries to also begin their defence efforts. He added that Europe should support the defence capabilities of the countries lying on the migration route, including Albania, Montenegro, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia and Slovenia. However, regrettably Brussels, he said, only wants to make decisions on the distribution of migrants.
According to Mr Bakondi, the new European Parliament – whose composition will probably be very different from that of today’s – should decide on the new EU regulations concerning migration.
He also stressed that at this point in time Hungary’s most pressing task is the enactment of the Stop Soros legislative package and the required constitutional amendment. He added that the government will not yield to any kind of political blackmail on the issue of migration.
