György Bakondi, Chief Security Advisor to the Prime Minister has told Hungarian television channel M1 that even if masses of people will set off on the Balkan migration route, Hungary is prepared to protect its own borders and the borders of the European Union.
In reply to a question related to German intelligence services’ sources according to which another migration wave can be expected on the Balkan route in the autumn, Mr. Bakondi said that since sea routes are less likely to be used in the autumn due to the weather, the main direction of the migrant movement will be shifted to land.
Mr. Bakondi also said that the Balkan route is being closely monitored and added that he has no knowledge of where the German information is coming from, but we are prepared to resist any kind of pressure with police and military forces present and to defend the safety of the Hungarian people.
