On Tuesday in Szolnok, György Bakondi, Chief Security Advisor to the Prime Minister said that illegal mass migration is regarded as a security issue by the Government, which it has been consistently emphasising since last spring.

Prior to his presentation entitled “Europe endangered?”, he told a press conference that even according to “conservative estimates”, some 1.5 million illegal migrants of “uncertain and unclear identity and purpose” have reached the heart of Europe.

He pointed out that this entails an extreme security risk for the people of the continent. He added that the October referendum is a means of expressing opinion on a national issue that is standing above political parties. It must be understood that the relocation quota is a specific threat to the majority of towns and settlements.

Mr. Bakondi also said the in the European Union, such an EU legislation process has been launched, which would entail the reception and automatic distribution of a mass of people without an upper limit among Member States. He said that “if a political decision will be made on the issue, which determines the long term future of the EU and the Hungarian people, it is political means that can be applied to fight against it the most effectively”. Also, a government of a country could not even be given a more extensive and democratic authority than a referendum.

Mr. Bakondi said that the security situation of Europe is continuously deteriorating. Tension in Greece is also increasing; there are currently 65,000 registered migrants in the country. Some islands have reached their full capacity, and over the past couple of days, hundreds of them have demonstrated in Lesbos even declaring jihad.

He pointed out that the fact that for instance Germany, Austria and the Scandinavian countries want to send back a significant number of migrants to Hungary also poses a threat: the four Scandinavian countries have initiated proceedings against Hungary to readmit those who have not been granted asylum on the basis of the Dublin regulations, which according to Mr. Bakondi has not been complied with by any other Member State but Hungary.

Hungary readmits everyone who is proved to have entered EU territory in Hungary first, Mr. Bakondi said and added that on the basis of expulsion agreements, they would be transported back to Kosovo, Albania, Montenegro, etc. “We are not in the position to readmit those who have not entered the EU in Hungary first”, Mr. Bakondi pointed out.
