György Bakondi, Chief Security Advisor to the Prime Minister told Hungarian television channel M1 that it is an illusion to talk about the internal security of the Member States without the protection of EU external borders.

He said that internal security has deteriorated in the majority of those Member States, where a number of migrants arrived without being checked. Yet, it is the duty of all governments to prevent this and to ensure the safety of the population.

He pointed out that Hungary supports the protection of the borders both financially and by providing personnel, let it be in Greece, Bulgaria, Macedonia or Serbia.

He said that it would be important for the EU to close an agreement – similar to the Turkish one – on illegal migration with Egypt and the chaotic domestic political situation should be stabilised in Libya. 5.5 million and 1 million migrants live in Egypt and in Libya, respectively. Migrants should be relocated in these countries; outside of the EU borders and let them in only when an EU country receives them.

Mr. Bakondi called the case of the Hungarian truck driver heading to Calais, France beaten by migrants regrettable but not unique. He pointed out that these are the cases why a wall is being built at Calais, so that the main route becomes safe. This shows that there is no other way of stopping the crowd that the physical barrier and the presence of police officers and soldiers, he underlined.
