According to the Chief Security Advisor to the Prime Minister, it’s high time the bureaucracy of the European Union (EU) broke with its migration policy, which has had “serious consequences” so far, and for mass illegal migration to be preventable and people’s fundamental security expectations to be fulfillable.
Speaking on Hungarian M1 television’s Sunday evening current affairs program, György Bakondi said: “The filtering out of Jihadists is not working in, for instance, Greece, since it would seem that a person who was once a member of the Islamic State terrorist organisation, and who is suspected of having taken part in acts of terrorism, receive political asylum and an anonymous debit card, in addition to which he was also allowed to travel within Europe”.
In reply to a question concerning the Greek “migrant caravans”, he said: “police have used force to disperse the group that was preparing to set out”. “We would like to know who the organisers are, in view of the fact that the case ‘has similar features’ to events on the American-Mexican border”, he stated, adding: “European secret services gained information well in advance on what was in preparation”.
Mr. Bakondi was also asked whether the escalation of fighting in Libya could lead to more migrants setting out for Europe, to which he said cooperation with the coast guard is becoming impossible and many are exploiting the confused situation to begin migrating west. “As a result, Italy, Malta and other countries could find themselves in a difficult position”, he added.
