“There was a mass brawl at the Guarded Refugee Receiving Centre in Kiskunhalas”, the Prime Minister’s Chief Advisor on Homeland Security told Hungarian news agency MTI in Monday morning.
“Around 20 migrants, including Algerians, Syrians, Pakistanis and two Mongolian citizens, began scuffling with each other in the guarded receiving centre at around 8 p.m. on Sunday morning. They began fighting with fists, and later with the broken off legs of furniture. When security guards stepped in they moved out onto the courtyard, where some 200 other migrants joined in the brawl”, György Bakondi said.
Thanks to police action, order in the Centre was restored by late evening.
Nine people were lightly injured, eight of whom were taken to hospital and will be discharged within 8 days.
“Police are investigating the exact cause of the brawl and who started it, and have launched criminal proceedings with relation to group vandalism”, Mr. Bakondi said.
Several atrocities have occurred between migrants at the receiving centre in Kiskunhalas during recent weeks, but order was successfully restored within a short space of time on each such occasion.
“There are a sufficient number of security staff at the Centre in Kiskunhalas and Police can also be called in if required, as occurred on Sunday evening when some 200 police were involved in restoring order at the Centre”, Mr. Bakondi told the press.
