Migration activities have intensified recently on the external borders of the European Union, on the Balkans route as well as from the directions of Libya, Tunisia and Morocco, the Chief Security Advisor to the Prime Minister said on the Thursday programme of the public service television news channel M1.

György Bakondi took the view that in the present situation it is essential to reinforce the external borders of the EU in the interest of stopping this process.

According to his information, in Turkey some 3.5 million Syrians, one million Afghans and Africans in large numbers are waiting to set out for Western Europe, and migrants are arriving in the Greek islands from the direction of Turkey in ever increasing numbers.

This means that illegal migration continues to remain an important security, health care and social issue in Europe.

All the more so as those who arrived earlier have been unable to integrate into European society, the chief advisor said.
