György Bakondi, Chief Security Advisor to the Prime Minister has told Hungarian television channel M1 that increasing numbers of people are arriving in the European Union via the Mediterranean and Romania.

According to Mr. Bakondi, this might lead to the formation of new route, which is going through Hungary’s eastern neighbouring country.

He also recalled that in Turkish migrant camps, there are still some three million people waiting.

Regarding the new migration route, Mr. Bakondi said that it is in the priority national interest of Romania to avoid an unmanageable situation from being developed, and it is inevitable to strengthen the country’s eastern border section.
