On Sunday evening György Bakondi, Chief Security Advisor to the Prime Minister told public television channel M1 that the migration pressure is not decreasing at all: this year, almost 18,000 people have attempted to cross the Hungarian-Serbian border illegally.

Mr. Bakondi also pointed out that on Sunday afternoon in Reutlingen, Germany a Syrian migrant killed one person and injured two others in a knife attack on the streets.

The Chief Security Advisor stressed that Hungary’s position remains the same: illegal migration must not only be cut back, it must be stopped entirely. Hotspots must be established outside the territory of the European Union, and countries that wish to remedy their demography or labour market related problems with the help of migrants should be allowed to receive migrants after proper checking from there.

He emphasised that it is important to prevent that millions of people authorities have no information of arrive in Europe again.

The Government will not succumb to any demands, blackmail or force in the field of migration. Its aim is to guarantee Hungary’s and Europe’s safety, Mr. Bakondi stressed.
