György Bakondi, Chief Security Advisor to the Prime Minister has told Hungarian television channel M1 that migration pressure is expected to increase or at least remain on Hungary’s borders in summer.

The Chief Advisor underlined that it occurs ever more often that large groups of migrants are attempting to cross the border. The majority of them arrive from Afghanistan, Pakistan and Bangladesh, and far fewer come from the Arab world and sub-Saharan Africa, he added.

Mr. Bakondi also said that non-governmental organisations and other interest groups as well as the European Union keep the Government of Hungary under constant pressure. In this regard, he recalled that on Wednesday, President of the European Parliament Antonio Tajani said that the European Commission should step up for the operation of the EU mechanism aimed at the redistribution of asylum seekers and if necessary, it should also launch infringement proceedings against those Member States that do not implement the previous decision on mandatory quotas.

Recently George Soros has again spoken at a conference about how important it is for Europe to let in migrant and according to current plans, a central authority in Brussels would redistribute migrants between Member States based on a permanent mechanism, Mr. Bakondi said.

According to Mr, Bakondi, this practice would involve a serious security risk, and it is unacceptable for the Hungarian people. He underlined that Hungary is prepared to fight the political battle and protect the sovereignty of the country with legal steps.
