In the interest of containing the coronavirus infection, the Operational Corps adopted further measures at its meeting held today. At the recommendation of the Operational Corps, the government has suspended the issuance of visas to Iranian nationals, Tibor Lakatos, the head of the Operational Corps responsible for the containment of the coronavirus infection announced.
At airports, they are continuously checking passengers, primarily those arriving from Italy, Germany, France and on indirect flights from Iran. So far 6,273 tests have been carried out at the Budapest and Debrecen airports, while another 419 checks have been carried out at road border crossing points.
Due to the epidemiological risk of immigration, the admission of migrants to the currently operational two transit zones has been suspended indefinitely. In light of the significant number of migrants that have set out from Turkey towards Western Europe, the government has extended the state of emergency due to mass immigration until 7 September. The government has suspended the issuance of visas to Iranian nationals indefinitely, and has also decided that in the future the transportation abroad of any protective equipment suitable for the containment of the coronavirus will be subject to the permission of the Operational Corps.
Mr Lakatos also said the student attending Semmelweis University failed to avoid community events despite multiple warnings from the institution’s managers. Therefore, the Ministry for Innovation and Technology has repeatedly made recommendations to institutions of higher education, asking them to inform students of the risks and to request them to observe the necessary precautions.
