János Áder has set 2 October 2016 as the date for the national referendum on the EU’s mandatory relocation of non-Hungarian citizens to Hungary.
A press release from the Office of the President of the Republic states that, taking account of the relevant decision by the Curia, Mr. Áder has set the date for the national referendum in accordance with the provisions of the Fundamental Law, legislation on the referendum initiative, and the Act on Election Procedure.
On 10 May the National Assembly ordered the holding of the referendum initiated by the Government. The question to be put to the public in the referendum is as follows: “Do you agree that the European Union should have the power to impose the compulsory relocation of non-Hungarian citizens to Hungary without the consent of the National Assembly of Hungary?”
