According to the Chief Security Advisor to the Prime Minister, people who left Europe to fight for the Islamic State terrorist organisation in Syria, but who are now returning to the continent, pose the greatest risk to Europe’s internal security to date.

Speaking on Hungarian M1 television’s Saturday evening current affairs program, György Bakondi said the largest ratio of people set out for Syria from France and Belgium. “The number of people returning to Europe increased as ISIS began losing increasing territories, and they represent the greatest threat in view of the fact that they have received training and have taken part in the fighting”, he said.

With relation to processing that are affecting Hungary, Mr. Bakondi said that the Serbian border is under continuous pressure, and it recently transpired with regard to an attempted illegal immigrant from Pakistan that he may have killed up to 70 people as a contract killer. According to Mr. Bakondi, these people not only represent a danger with regard to terrorism, but also from the perspective of crime in general.
