“There is an increasing likelihood of the migration agreement between the European Union and Turkey being terminated”, György Bakondi said on Hungarian television’s Monday evening current affairs program.

According to the Chief Security Advisor to the Prime Minister, there is a serious chance that the agreement will be declared void, and if that happens then the countries along the Balkan migration route will have to stop another wave of immigration.

“Although the Balkan route has been closed off, significant activity can still be observed there”, Mr. Bakondi noted, adding that “The number of migrants In Serbia is increasing rapidly, and they cannot travel on to other destinations”.

We must find a solution to the immigration crisis that “serves the interests of the Hungarian nation, but also keeps open the opportunity for united action on the part of the European Union”, the Chief Security Advisor said.
