According to the Chief Security Advisor to the Prime Minister, even the questions concerning problems with the rule of law were false at the European Parliament (EP) debate on Wednesday, during the debate on the latest developments in Hungary.

Speaking on Hungarian M1 television’s Friday evening current affairs program, György Bakondi said: This discussion, which I wouldn’t call a debate, because there were only a ‘few” there, was a campaign event for the EP elections in May.

With regard to how the debate was received, he said: “The Left-wing and liberal media are attempting to draw attention to what they regard as being Hungary’s errors and behaviour that they regard as being incompatible with European values”. According to the Chief Advisor, there are either totally false, or are “grossly magnified” cases.

He indicated that three main issues were raised on Wednesday: the amendment of the Labour Code, the introduction of public administration courts, and the protests in Budapest.

“Over half of EU member states have a maximum annual overtime of 410 hours, more than the 400 hours introduced in Hungary, in addition to which public administration courts also exist in over half of EU member states, and with relation to the protests they would have behaved in a politically correct manner, on which they previously placed major emphasis, if they had also drawn attention to the protests in France, Germany and Belgium”, he stated.

The top candidate of the European socialists, Vice-President of the European Commission Frans Timmermans “proudly stated” that he has been consulting with George Soros for twenty years and is a “great friend” of the businessman and a follower of the ideals of an open society, Mr. Bakondi told the press.
