According to the Chief Security Advisor to the Prime Minister, issues that are partly fabrications and partly excessive are often placed on the European Parliament’s agenda. Speaking on Hungarian M1 television’s Sunday evening current affairs program, György Bakondi listed the resolution on the next EU budget and the debate on Hungary as just such issues.

The Chief Security Advisor was asked with relation to the fact that another debate on Hungary will be held in the EP next week, at which, amongst others, the amendment to the Labour Code, the establishment of public administration courts and the protests of recent weeks will be discussed.

“This can be nothing other than part of the election campaign”, Mr. Bakondi said, adding: “The Hungarian Government does not wish to take part in this”.

Amongst others, the EP will also be issuing an official opinion on the upcoming EU budget for the period 2021-2027, on how much funding should be provided to non-governmental organisations, and on what rule of law conditions “the financing of the European states” should be tied to, despite the fact that their mandate will be expiring in May, he pointed out.
