According to the Chief Security Advisor to the Prime Minister, the internal security situation in Europe has deteriorated during the past two years.

Speaking on Hungarian M1 television’s Friday evening current affairs program, György Bakondi recalled the serious terrorist attacks that have occurred recently.

“Hungary closed its southern border to migrants two years ago. Since then, Europe’s opinion with regard to illegal immigration has changed, including that of Germany and Austria”, he said.

Mr. Bakondi stressed that border security is one of the determining factors of sovereignty, and that protecting its external borders is important to all of Europe, with relation to which he noted that Hungary has been the subject of major political attacks since building its border security fence, but since then other nation states have also introduced measures to combat migration.

According to the Chief Security Advisor, the Hungarian opposition’s standpoint on illegal immigration is incoherent and contradictory.
