“The protection of the EU’s external borders is the basis of internal security in Europe”, Chief Security Advisor to the Prime Minister György Bakondi said on Hungarian M1 television’s early morning current affairs program.

“70 thousand migrants are moving along the Balkan migration route. They do not want to turn back and are doing everything possible to reach Europe before winter sets in”, he added.

The Chief Security Advisor also drew attention to the fact that the national make-up of migrants has changed significantly since 2015: while three years ago Syrian and Iraqi citizens were in the majority, the people arriving these days are generally from Afghanistan, Iran and Pakistan.
