According to the Chief Security Advisor to the Prime Minister, the relationship between illegal migration and terrorism cannot be disputed.

Speaking on Hungarian M1 television’s Monday evening current affairs program, György Bakondi said that no contrary opinions were raised to this statement at last week’s UN High-Level Conference on Counter-Terrorism in New York.

The Chief Security Advisor held several bilateral talks at the forum: he met with the heads of the Finnish and Jordanian delegations, NATO representatives, one of the heads of the American delegation, and with Vladimir Voronkov, Director of the UN’s Office of Counter-Terrorism, which was established last year.

He noted that at the conference the future was the main subject of discussion, rather than past experiences. One of the main proposals concerned the fact that every state should appoint a so-called counter-terrorism coordinator, who while in possession of police and secret service background information could even assist action against terrorism via the exchange of “sensitive” information.
