“Tens of thousands of illegal migrants have accumulated in the Western Balkans; the security situation in Bosnia is critical”, Chief Security Advisor to the Prime Minister, György Bakondi said on Hungarian M1 television’s Sunday evening current affairs program.
“The arrival of new migrants has stabilised at a high level along the Balkan migration route; they are primarily moving towards Europe via the Turkish green border. Some 5000 former fighters of the Islamic State terrorist organisation, who are EU citizens, are trying to return to Europe, and they represent a major security risk in Western Europe, where migration has been a serious threat since 2015. Attacks by terrorists with Muslim backgrounds have claimed a total of some 300 lives and injured 1500 people in Western Europe”, the expert said.
“At the same time, the ratio of the population with immigrant backgrounds often exceeds 10 percent in some of the countries that are supporting migration, and their integration is highly doubtful”, Mr. Bakondi warned.
“Hungary is in no danger, however”, the Chief Security Advisor underlined.
