According the Chief Security Advisor to the Prime Minister, Monday’s publication of the first draft of the UN’s package of proposals with relation to migration is cause for concern in view of its expected content.

Speaking on Hungarian M1 television’s Saturday evening current affairs program, György Bakondi said the first draft was developed by two ambassadors, and will set down guidelines for the organisation’s future stance on migration.

According to the Chief Security Advisor, this is cause for concern because Hungary does not want to be part of a treaty that states that migration is a fundamental human right and everyone is free to choose where they want to settle, and this is exactly what the United Nations is preparing to support. “This is at odds with the interests of both Hungary and Europe”, he added.

Mr. Bakondi also told the press that the Foreign Minister has been authorised to begin preparations for a possible exit from the negotiations, but that the Cabinet will have the final say on the matter.
