According to the Chief Security Advisor to the Prime Minister, “there is no doubt” that immigration – whether according to the quotas, or illegally via the borders – increases the threat of terrorism.

György Bakondi highlighted on the Sunday evening programme of the public service television news channel M1 that more than 30 serious acts of terrorism have been committed since the 2015 migration crisis. Over 330 people have died in these incidents.

The chief security advisor also pointed out these acts of terrorism were committed by Muslims, and second- and third-generation immigrants.

Mr Bakondi observed in this context that since 2015 Muslim immigrants have arrived in Europe in large numbers. Some of them have disappeared from the sight of the authorities. This gives rise to concern as many of them fought with the terrorist organisation called Islamic State earlier, the chief security advisor highlighted.
