“Thousands of the Islamic State’s fighters with EU citizenship, ten thousand according to certain estimates, could attempt to return to Europe after losing their livelihoods”, Chief Security Advisor to the Prime Minister György Bakondi said on Hungarian M1 television’s Thursday morning current affairs program.

“This proves represents an extremely serious security risk, and movement along all three migration routes, the Balkan, Italian and Spanish routes, has increased recently”, Mr. Bakondi stressed.

“Hungary is participating in the handling of the situation in three ways: it is a highly active participant in international discussions, it is fulfilling its international obligations with regard to border security, and it has asked its citizens to provide their opinion on the situations”, he said.

“We are also happy to recommend the instrument of the National Consultation to our partners in Western Europe” in view of the fact that it is an effective method of testing public opinion between elections, Mr. Bakondi added.
