On 25 February, the victims of communism are commemorated all around Hungary: it was on this day in 1947 that the Secretary General of the Independent Smallholders’ Party, Béla Kovács was unlawfully arrested and deported to the Soviet Union.

Based on the Parliamentary decision 58/2000 (VI. 16.) adopted by the first Orbán government, on this day, all higher and secondary education establishments shall commemorate the victims of the communist dictatorship.
