Hungary will not yield either to legal threats, or to political and journalistic pressure, the Chief Security Advisor to the Prime Minister said on Thursday in the locality of Nyúl, at the Győr-Moson-Sopron County station of the country tour conducted in conjunction with the national consultation, where he spoke about the pressure of migration in front of an audience of some one hundred and fifty.

György Bakondi said that 760 thousand people have sent back the national consultation questionnaires so far. The Government is asking the people in order to have a better understanding of the percentage of the population who support it on the issues concerned, he reiterated.

There are hundreds of thousands of people in Europe about whom we have no way of knowing who they are and where they came from, but who abuse the social network provided by the continent, he stated, adding: illegal migration is assisted not only by Brussels, but also by non-governmental organisations.

He cited as an example that, according to the Italians, a number of civil society organisations helping migrants closely cooperate with people smugglers.

He stressed that there is still no pan-European solution to migration, but every country has taken protective measures against it, “there are some countries which have made more intensive efforts”. Those countries have increased the size of their police forces, have introduced internal border controls, and have enlarged their intelligence services or have extended their powers.

He further said that “we do not speak the political language that is spoken in Western-Europe”. He mentioned as an example that the EU would like to demolish the fence erected on the southern border of the country and to close down the transit zones, while “according to the Austrians, they did not build a fence on the border, but a gate with wings”. A wall was also erected at Calais in France, and there is a double fence on the Spanish border as well: “they are evidently good, but ours is not”. After the migrant camp in Calais was cleared, migrants were accommodated in shipping container homes which “everyone welcomed”. “The Hungarian shipping containers are bad, the French ones are not”, he said.

Hungary is being attacked on account of its responses given to illegal migration because it seeks to prevent the realisation of György Soros’s idea to the effect that the letting into Europe of one million migrants every year would kick-start the continent’s economic growth, he stated.

The chief security advisor highlighted that the Schengen achievements are important values, and Hungary has a vested interest in the survival of these economic, social and political achievements. External border controls on the Hungarian border mean that we protect Europe in accordance with the Schengen regulations, he said.

There are views in Western-Europe claiming that Hungary is not humane enough and does not demonstrate sufficient solidarity, but the Government continues to believe that integration is not a solution, he continued. He added: we continue to maintain that we do not want others to tell us who should live in Hungary, we do not want to see our public security deteriorate, and the Government does not wish to solve the problem of the shortage of work force with the importation of migrants.

Mr Bakondi stressed that the Government wishes to consistently serve the best interests of the Hungarian people.

With illegal migration, Europe’s culture and population will change irreversibly, and this is just what the Government does not want, he said, and then mentioned that there are 3.5 million migrants waiting in Turkey.

Ákos Kara, Minister of State for Infommunication and Consumer Protection at the Ministry for National Development, Fidesz Member of Parliament for the constituency said that each and every one of the questions asked in the national consultation is about national sovereignty.
