According to Government Spokesperson Zoltán Kovács, an overwhelming majority of the over one million respondents in the national consultation on immigration agree with the questionnaire’s statements.
At a press conference in Budapest on Monday, Mr. Kovács explained that citizens have similar opinions on the twelve questions featured in the questionnaire, and the summary of the results shows that the percentage of those rejecting the statements is negligible; this is in spite of a large-scale campaign for rejection.
Those returning the questionnaires clearly support a stance which sees stricter regulation of immigration as necessary at both European and Hungarian levels. This modern-day mass migration and illegal border-crossings must be brought to a halt, the Spokesperson said.
