The European Union wants to force through the humanitarian visa by curtailing the independence of Member States, the Parliamentary and Strategic State Secretary of the Prime Minister’s Office said on the public service television news channel M1.
According to Balázs Orbán, it is shocking that in the proposal on the visa the European Parliament calls upon the European Commission to adopt an EU regulation which would effectively withdraw from Member States the right to freely decide on their migration policies and would hand it over to the EU.
He stressed that according to the proposal, each Member State would be obliged to grant immigrants humanitarian visas according to conditions determined by the EU.
This “could become a scary process” as the past few years have shown that the EU’s proposals regarding migration policy serve not to reduce, but to increase the number of people arriving in Europe, Mr Orbán said.
