At a press conference organised by Transparency International Hungary on the International Anti-Corruption Day on Wednesday in Budapest, Minister of State at the Prime Minister’s Office Nándor Csepreghy said that Hungary has agreed with the Norwegian Fund, and thus payments can continue.
The Minister of State announced this in response to a question, and said that the journalist “has killed the joke for Tuesday’s press conference, as initially they had planned to announce it then”.
Talking about the agreement, Mr. Csepreghy emphasised that in Hungary, the rule of law prevails. He said that the Government of Hungary still maintains the opinion that certain civil organisations were granted funds in an irregular manner. The fact of the agreement however shows that mechanisms of enforcing rights work in Hungary, and it is also proof of the fact that the Government respects requirements of legality, he stressed.
