Dr Balázs Molnár, Deputy State Secretary for EU Affairs at the Prime Minister’s Office met with the representatives of the European Integration Committee of the Kosovar Parliament on Tuesday in Budapest.
During the course of the talks, the parties reviewed the state of the process of Kosovo’s European integration, the issue of visa liberalisation, and the latest developments of the Pristina-Belgrade dialogue.
The representatives of Kosovo indicated: they greatly appreciate Hungary’s assistance rendered during the course of their EU accession talks and asked for the continuation of this support. As regards visa liberalisation, in their view, Kosovo has made major progress in the fulfilment of the relevant criteria, and they therefore sincerely hope that their efforts will come to fruition. Concerning the Pristina-Belgrade dialogue, they pointed out: the EU does not sufficiently appreciate Kosovo’s efforts.
Deputy State Secretary Balázs Molnár reassured his partners that Hungary will support Kosovo during the course of its European integration and visa liberalisation negotiations with all possible means also in the future. To this end, preparations are ongoing for the delegation of a Hungarian-EU expert group, similar to the expert task forces Hungary is already providing for Montenegro, Serbia, Macedonia and Albania. The stability and development of the Western Balkans are a strategic interest for Hungary, for the attainment of which the Pristina-Belgrade dialogue is indispensable.
