Minister of the Prime Minister’s Office János Lázár stressed at the press conference entitled “Government info 30” that the Hungarian Government does not intend to take action against migrants, but merely seeks to help and support Hungarian society.

Mr. Lázár pointed out that the mandatory settling quotas continue to remain unacceptable for Hungary. As he said, it is not because the Government is anti-immigration, but because it must pursue a policy which supports the Hungarian people.

Regarding the collection of signatures which was launched with respect to this issue, he drew attention to the importance of a united stance which is necessary, as he said, in order for the Government to have unquestionable legitimacy to institute the legal fight against the contemplated measure. Mr Lázár finds it inconceivable that Hungarian municipalities should take in and provide a living for tens of thousands of repatriated people.

The Minister made clear: Hungary has no intention of taking in a single repatriated migrant; in his words, “there is absolutely no chance” of this happening. The goal is, he added, to prevent the repatriation to Hungary of the some 40,000 economic migrants as they most certainly did not first cross into the territory of the European Union in Hungary.
