The Government recently decided to launch an information campaign on immigration in countries of origin and transit countries. Within the framework of the campaign, leaflets will be distributed along the transit route south of Hungary starting today.

The information leaflets draw attention to the fact that crossing the Hungarian border illegally is a crime, the punishment for which is imprisonment. According to the wording of the leaflets, Hungary is happy to receive everyone, but will act with the full force of the law against those who attempt to enter the country illegally. The information also calls on migrants who are currently south of Hungary’s borders not to listen to human traffickers.

The goal of the information drive is to reduce migration pressure on Hungary. Several other EU member states such as Austria and Germany have also run similar campaigns.
