János Lázár, the Minister heading the Prime Minister’s Office paid a visit to Brussels on 29 September 2015. During the course of his visit, he had talks with Dominique Ristori, head of the Directorate-General for Energy within the European Commission.
As part of the talks, the parties reviewed the progress of the authorisation procedures necessary for the enlargement of the Paks Atomic Power Station, and concluded that they are going to plan. During the course of the meeting, they also discussed topical energy issues.
After his meeting with Director-General Ristori, Mr Lázár paid a visit to the Permanent Representation of Hungary in Brussels where, within the framework of a staff meeting, he handed over the credentials to the three new ambassadors appointed as of 1 October, Olivér Várhelyi, Tibor Stelbaczki and Harry Alex Rusz. At the meeting, the Minister thanked Ambassador Péter Györkös for his work, highlighting that equally important assignments are awaiting the departing ambassador in Berlin where he will continue his work.
During the course of his visit to Brussels, Mr Lázár had talks with Margrethe Vestager concerning the authorisation of the enlargement of the Paks Atomic Power Station. As part of the meeting with the European Commissioner for Competition, the parties concluded that there is no obstacle to the implementation of the project; however, a precise, mutually approved schedule is required in order to ensure the progress of the project. At the meeting, the parties agreed that it is a mutual interest that the authorisation procedure should be closed fully in conformity with EU law and the relevant competition regulations and, at the same time, within the shortest possible time.
