In Budapest on 27 October, Minister of State for EU Affairs at the Prime Minister’s Office Szabolcs Takács held talks with his Romanian counterpart George Ciamba, State Secretary for EU Affairs at the Romanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
During their meeting the two politicians exchanged views about issues on the agenda of various EU forums, as well as current EU topics.
They discussed the development of the migration situation, and analysed the EU Heads of Government and State summit on the Western Balkan migration route held in Brussels on 25 September. They also reviewed the Commission’s proposals for handling the migration crisis, and both parties proposed possible solutions to this.
In addition to the issue of Britain’s desired EU reform, they also covered economic challenges that the EU has to face, mainly regarding the deepening of the Economic and Monetary Union, the planning of the 2020–2026 multiannual financial framework and questions related to energetics, trade and security policy.
