The Prime Minister indicated already at the beginning of June: he is unable to accept President Ildikó Vida's resignation for professional reasons; however, on personal and family grounds he would be willing to do so, State Secretary for Government Communications András Giró-Szász told MTI on Wednesday in answer to an enquiry.
Mrs Vida offered her resignation already at the time of the unfounded US accusations which the Prime Minister did not accept, he reiterated, adding that Ildikó Vida submitted her resignation to the Prime Minister on 20 May.
The State Secretary further informed the press: the Prime Minister requested the President of the National Tax and Customs Administration (NAV) to continue to fulfil her responsibilities until a decision is adopted regarding the new leader of NAV. However, as her executive employment terminates on the 60th day following the tendering of the resignation, Vice-President Árpád Varga will head the institution thereafter until the appointment of the new NAV President.
The Ministry of National Economy informed MTI on Monday that Mrs Vida's employment terminated on that day, and until the appointment of the new President, Árpád Varga will head the tax authority.
