According to the Minister in charge of the Prime Minister’s Office, the human traffickers have defeated Croatia, and the Hungary’s latest task is to protect the Hungarian-Croatian border. “The best strategy for stopping the wave of immigrants would have been for Germany, Austria, Croatia, Serbia, Slovakia and Hungary to jointly close their borders”, János Lázár said.

In a statement to news portal Vásárhely24, the Minister said it seems that at Röszke Hungary has temporarily managed to put an end to the refugee crisis through constructing the border security fence.

“Hungary’s latest task is to protect the Croatian border, because the Serbian and Croatian authorities are transporting refugees to within 40 kilometres of the Croatian-Hungarian border by the thousands”, he stressed.

“Construction of the fence will now also begin there”, he noted.

Mr. Lázár told the press that the Croatian and Serbian governments had not even attempted to care for and accommodate the refugees, and Hungary cannot count on their solidarity. “Austrian and German refugee policy seems to have gradually changed over the past few days, however, and Hungary can trust in their being more reasonable”, he added.

The Minister repeated his standpoint according to which “Border protection is the solution; migrants must be assembled outside the borders of Europe”.
“Countries whose job markets require it may decide to invite migrants to settle there”, he explained, pointing out that “the Government does not want the EU quota for the distribution of refugees to be compulsory, as that would be contrary to Hungary’s interests”.

Mr. Lázár also voiced his opinion according to which the introduction of German and Austrian border controls, or communication with regard to the fact that border security fences will be established there, would serve as a deterrent.

“The best strategy for stopping the wave of immigrants would have been for Germany, Austria, Croatia, Serbia, Slovakia and Hungary to jointly close their borders and establish the required physical and legal barriers”, he said.

“This would have put a stop to the wave of migration and human trafficking from the Balkans”, he declared.

According to the Minister of Prime Minister’s Office, it would seem for the moment that the human traffickers have defeated Croatia.
