On Kossuth Radio’s Wednesday edition of “Good morning, Hungary”, Judit Varga, Minister of State for EU relations at the Prime Minister’s Cabinet Office, said that Tuesday’s session of the European Union’s General Affairs Council indicates that the pro-immigration forces in Brussels will continue to exert pressure on Hungary.
According to the Minister of State, the European Commission’s Vice-President Frans Timmermans has proved that he is unable to separate his official function from his role as the Socialists’ lead candidate for the Commission presidency. She said that Mr. Timmermans had given a distorted account of the information campaign launched by the Hungarian government on Tuesday.
“It’s clear that they’re running out of time, feelings are becoming ever more intense, and they are increasingly impassioned in their demands for Hungary to be punished for its migration policy,” she added.
According to the Minister of State, it is astonishing that Frans Timmermans continues to represent the European Commission in the General Affairs Council, despite also openly campaigning with the Hungarian “post-communist left” and entering into a partnership with anti-Semites.
Mrs. Varga said, “Furthermore, this double standard doesn’t bother Brussels at all.”
She added that the vehement reactions to the Hungarian government’s information campaign also prove that the information the Government wants to share with the Hungarian people is true.
In response to a question, the Minister of State said that the campaign for the elections to the European Parliament has become so intense that there is no possibility of rational debate, and negotiations regarding Article 7 should therefore be postponed until after the elections.
