The State Secretariat for Hungarian Communities Abroad of the Prime Minister’s Office supports the parades organised on the occasion of the Szekler Day of Freedom aiming at drawing attention to the issue of Szekler Land’s autonomy.

The autonomy of Szekler Land is not just the interest of the Szekler but that of every Hungarian and decent person in the world. It is important that – being aware of the fact that in 1854, three Szekler martyrs were executed in Marosvásárhely who still believed in the freedom of Hungary even after the defeat of the 1848/49 revolution and freedom fight – as many Hungarian people around the world join the parades as possible on this sad anniversary.
