Employment tendencies in Hungary are good and it has been 22 years since the employment rate has been permanently over 4 million, Minister of State for Vocational Training and the Job Market Sándor Czomba said at a press conference held jointly with Government Spokesperson Éva Kurucz.
The number of people in employment has increased in practically every region and age group, while Hungary is the only country out of the ten newest members of the EU in which unemployment has now exceeded pre-crisis levels.
DownloadMr. Czomba reported on the fact that the majority of new workplaces had been created within the private sector. The Minister of State stressed that the Government is planning to continue its job creation efforts and 60 percent of all European Union funding would be put towards boosting and developing the economy, including HUF 1000-1200 billion (EUR 3.2-3.9bn) for job creation. The objective is to achieve full employment, meaning everyone who wants to work should have a job.
From July 2015, a further 50 thousand people will have the opportunity to take part in the public work programme, the Minister of State said, adding that the primary goal was to launch programmes that use public work as a springboard to help people move on to higher income jobs within the private sector.
DownloadGovernment Spokesperson Éva Kurucz said that the economy was now standing on stable foundations and the government was successfully introducing career models in more and more sectors.
Pay rises for teachers would continue in 2015, with salaries increasing by an average of 4-5 percent per year until 2017. Salary increases for healthcare workers have been gradually underway for the past four years and the priority goal for next year is the development of the general practitioner system, for which the Government has earmarked additional funding of HUF 18.5 billion (EUR 60 million), she said.
The career model for armed and law enforcement workers will be launched in 2015, with a budget of HUF 44 billion (EUR 142 million); salaries will increase by 30 percent during the first phase of pay increases, the Government Spokesperson said.
In addition, government plans include the introduction of a career model for public officials beginning in 2016.
