In an interview with public TV channel M1 on Thursday, Government Spokesperson Zoltán Kovács emphasised that under the current circumstances, serious patience and wisdom is needed to make the decision concerning that date of the Croatian border barrier’s entering into force.

Reflecting on the assumption according to which the Government of Hungary has not made a decision yet because it is afraid that Croatia would then direct migrants to those points of the border barrier that they believe to be weak Mr. Kovacs said that the date of the decision depends on the state of the border barrier. He also stressed that the fence must be complemented with additional legal and human capacity support.

Furthermore, there are also other factors influencing the decision, which are independent of Hungary: such are for example the measures of Austria and Germany, he added.
