Pécs to invest EUR 6.8 million in green energy

As part of a two-billion-forint project, a biogas plant has been built in the city of Pécs. The project uses the sewage generated at the city’s sewerage plant for the production of energy.

The Government supports the studies of some 11 thousand students with aid worth HUF 1.8 billion (EUR 6 million) within the framework of the secondary school and school-leaving examination sub-programme of the “Provisions” (Hungarian: “Útravaló”) scholarship and mentor programme, which aims at promoting the equal opportunities and successful educational advancement of disadvantaged young people.
The Hungarian model is functioning well – IMF significantly improves forecast for Hungary’s economic growth

The International Monetary Fund has raised its economic growth forecast for Hungary to an unprecedented extent in its annual World Economic Outlook report. It is now acknowledged by the organisation that the Hungarian economy is likely to grow by nearly 3 percent, while only 2 percent growth was estimated in April. The IMF has also revised its outlook for next year.

Cooperation with Jewish organisations on House of Fates project

It is with support from Hungarian Jewish organisations and help from the international Jewish community that the Government wants to put together the professional programme of the House of Fates, a memorial centre for child victims of the Holocaust – Minister in charge of the Prime Minister’s Office János Lázár said on Tuesday, after the Jewish Community Roundtable’s over-4-hour meeting, where eight subjects were discussed.

Jewish Memorial Unveiled in Makó

A Jewish Memorial was unveiled in Makó on Thursday to mark the seventieth anniversary of the Holocaust and the one-hundredth anniversary of the construction of the town’s Reformed Synagogue. „The Hungarian Holocaust is party fratricide: it was perpetrated against Hungarians and Hungarians took part in committing it”, Minister in Charge of the Prime Minister’s Office János Lázár and the region’s Member of Parliament said at the inauguration ceremony.
