In a message Prime Minister Viktor Orbán congratulated British Prime Minister Boris Johnson on the Conservative Party’s overwhelming victory in yesterday’s general elections in Britain.

“This result has made it clear that democracy can only be built upon the will of the electorate,” said Mr Orbán in his message, according to the information of Bertalan Havasi, the Prime Minister’s press chief, adding that the Hungarian people followed the struggle of the people of Britain with great interest and sympathy.

“I wish to congratulate you on having succeeded in enforcing the will of your people which wishes to secure sovereignty outside the European Union,” he wrote.

At the end of his message, Mr Orbán reassured Mr Johnson that Hungary will aspire to strengthen bilateral economic and political relations, based on the foundations of mutual trust, also in the future.
