The migration crisis was the main topic of the meeting of Prime Minister Viktor Orbán and Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, President of Egypt, held on Tuesday at the UN Headquarters in New York.
The parties concluded that the current migration crisis is a global problem, and therefore the response to the crisis must also be global, Bertalan Havasi, chief of the Prime Minister’s Press Office told the Hungarian News Agency MTI upon reporting on the bilateral meeting.
He said: the two politicians take the view that it is imperative to prevent the migration crisis from provoking an anti-Islamic atmosphere in Europe.
In this context, Mr Orbán pointed out – the chief of the Press Office cited his words – that the problem is not with Islam but with illegal mass migration.
The Hungarian Prime Minister and the President of Egypt also agreed that the implementation of the agreements recently signed by the two countries in Budapest is important, and is ongoing also at present.
Finally, Abdel Fattah el-Sisi invited Mr Orbán on an official visit to Cairo, Mr Havasi informed MTI.
