In a statement released on the Memorial Day for Hungarian Victims of the Holocaust, Prime Minister Viktor Orbán said that Hungary’s goal is to continue to be a country of security and peace for all its citizens, in a world which is increasingly uncertain and conflict-ridden.

Mr. Orbán declared that, in the spirit of Hungary’s Fundamental Law, the Government publicly reiterates that the Hungarian Jewish community can always count on the respect, friendship and protection of the Government of Hungary. He added that the Hungarian constitutional system – which has been placed on new foundations after the storms of history and moral crises brought by the 20th century – guarantees that Hungarian Jewry forms part of the Hungarian nation.
