Prime Minister Viktor Orbán attended the Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM) of heads of state and government in Milan on Friday, during which he held bilateral talks with President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev and Prime Minister of Malaysia Najib Razak to discuss, amongst others, the rapid establishment of a joint Hungarian-Kazakh investment fund and the reopening of the Hungarian Embassy in Kuala Lumpur.
According to the agreement concluded between Prime Minister Orbán and President Nazarbayev, Hungary and Kazakhstan will provide 20 million dollars each towards the establishment of a Hungarian-Kazakh Investment Fund. The two politicians also agreed that 45 Kazakh students would be attending Hungarian universities within the framework of a scholarship programme.
Also discussed at the meeting was the fact that Hungary has opened a trading house in Kazakhstan and that Hungarian plans include sending energy experts to the Central-Asian country. Prime Minister Viktor Orbán also stated that Hungary was providing assistance for the staging of the 2017 World Exhibition in Kazakhstan.
The Hungarian Prime Minister also indicated that Hungary would like to launch a direct flight between the two countries, and invited the Malaysian President to make an official visit to Hungary in 2015. Mr. Orbán also met with Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak, who he informed about the fact that Hungary would be reopening its embassy in Kuala Lumpur.
Also mentioned at the meeting was the fact that the Hungarian party would like to include more small and medium-sized enterprises in the increasing trade between the two countries. The Hungarian Prime Minister also indicated that Hungary was willing to welcome 40 Malaysian scholarship students.
