The parliamentary elections scheduled for 21 July in Ukraine was the main topic of the meeting of Prime Minister Viktor Orbán and László Brenzovics, President of the Cultural Alliance of Hungarians in Transcarpathia held in the Carmelite Monastery in Budapest.
At the meeting, the parties confirmed that it is important for the Hungarian community in Transcarpathia to be able to preserve its presence in the Kiev legislature.
Mr Orbán and Mr Brenzovics expressed hope that the Ukrainian authorities would be able to guarantee the fairness of the elections.
They encouraged Transcarpathian Hungarians working in Hungary to travel back home on 21 July and to take part in the elections, Bertalan Havasi, the Prime Minister’s press chief said.
