Hungary continues to remain unable to let into Hungary anyone arriving from Italy, including Serbian nationals wanting to return home to Serbia, Prime Minister Viktor Orbán said in a video message posted on his social media account on Sunday.

On Sunday morning, Mr Orbán travelled to Belgrade where he was received by President of Serbia Aleksandar Vucic. After the meeting, the Hungarian Prime Minister recorded a brief video message outside the building of the Hungarian Embassy in Belgrade.

The Prime Minister said he had exchanged experiences with the Serbian President regarding the management of the coronavirus epidemic.

Mr Orbán highlighted that they also had an issue in common, the Serbian-Hungarian border. They agreed that cargo traffic can continue, however, against the introduction of stringent safety measures.

He added that Hungary continues to remain unable to let in anyone arriving from Italy, including Serbian nationals wanting to return home to Serbia.

“I asked for understanding from the President of Serbia; Hungary’s border will continue to remain closed in the direction of Italy,” Prime Minister Orbán stressed.
