On the occasion of the Hanukkah festival, Prime Minister Viktor Orbán sent his greetings to members of the Jewish community in Hungary in a message, Bertalan Havasi, the Deputy State Secretary heading the Press Office of the Prime Minister informed the Hungarian news agency MTI on Sunday.
“Despite the grey winter days ahead, the ever-shortening days and ever longer nights, this period nonetheless fills our hearts with gratitude for all that we have. It teaches us that the greatest gift is if – following the example of our ancestors and reviving old traditions – we can celebrate in the intimate circle of our brothers and sisters, our family members,” the Prime Minister wrote in a message sent to the leaders of Jewish organisations in Hungary.
“As I do every year, this year, too, this is what I wish for: May the light of the Hanukkah candles shining brighter with every day remind you of the conserving power of faith and cohesion that never diminishes. Allow me as prime minister of Hungary to greet every member of the Jewish community in Hungary on the occasion of the Festival of Lights,” Mr Orbán concluded his festive message.
