Economic cooperation between Hungary and Uzbekistan is making good progress, and there are also further opportunities, among others, in the field of the pharmaceutical industry.

On Tuesday, Prime Minister Viktor Orbán and Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev had talks in Baku where both of them arrived to attend the summit of the Turkic Council. Bertalan Havasi informed the Hungarian news agency MTI about the meeting.

The Deputy State Secretary heading the Press Office of the Prime Minister said Mr Orbán and Mr Mirziyoyev concluded that it is a step forward in bilateral relations that Hungarian nationals can now travel to Uzbekistan for stays of less than 30 days without a visa.

The Prime Minister reassured the Uzbek President that Hungary is happy to share its experiences during the liberalisation of the Uzbek economy.

Mr Orbán thanked the Uzbek leadership for the support they provided with the opening of a Hungarian embassy in Tashkent, and at the same time, he invited the Uzbek President for a visit to Budapest, Mr Havasi said.
