Bertalan Havasi, Press Chief of the Prime Minister, has told Hungarian news agency MTI that Prime Minister Viktor Orbán and re-elected President of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences (MTA) László Lovász held talks on current science policy issues, as well as on the scientific capacities of universities and research institutes.
Minister of Human Capacities Zoltán Balog, Vice-President of the MTA Tamás Freud and President of the National Research, Development and Innovation Office József Pálinkás also attended the meeting in the Parliament building.
Also on the agenda was the question of how the Academy and the university system could attract even more foreign students and researchers to Hungary. The President of the MTA briefed the parties on ongoing developments and programmes, which the Prime Minister has given support to.
Mr. Havasi also said that during the talks special emphasis was placed on the direct industrial application of academic research programmes.
